The first in a series of annual Globe Forum (www.globeforum.com) conferences in Gdańsk will take place 28-29 October 2009 under the patronage of the former president of Poland, Lech Wałęsa and Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, Waldemar Pawlak. Globe Forum is a prestigious international event which enables participants to recognize new trends and make new contacts. We expect the participation of some 1 200 Polish and foreign business leaders as well as innovative firms, academics, reporters and representatives of central and local governments.
The key topics will be innovation and sustainability, under the motto "Business Innovation for Sustainable Growth". The Forum will present innovative solutions and achievements in such areas as for example energy, IT and urban planning.

One of the initiatives of Globe Forum is the prestigious Globe Award in two categories, Sustainable Innovation and Sustainable City (http://globeaward.org/polish_edition/en/about). Globe Award is a world covering award which aims to recognize and encourage societies, corporations, representatives of the public sector, individuals and academia that have excelled in the area of sustainability.
Another initiative is the Onstage Innovators` Contest which will be conducted during the Forum in Gdańsk. 10 international innovative companies whose solutions have a positive impact on the environment will be selected for the contest. At least 5 of those places are reserved for Polish companies. The format of the presentations will be 1-minute ?elevator pitches?, in English and unaided (no PowerPoint etc.). The innovators will also reply to questions from a Panel of Experts and the audience.
